Dog owners in San Diego love to get out and about with their four-legged companions. However, it can be difficult to know where your dog will be welcome. We list five fun things to do with your dog in San Diego this summer.
1. San Diego National Dog Party Day 2012. Friday, June 22 7pm Organized by Camp Run-A-Mutt, a dog daycare and boarding facility in Point Loma, San Diego’s National Dog Party Day claims to be “the best dog party day on the planet.” Take your four-legged friend along to 4030 Sports Arena Boulevard on Friday, June 22, 2012 in time for the 7:00 p.m. kickoff. Tickets are $25 per person, for which you get a goody bag of pet products and three hours of fun activities, including K9 karaoke. Please make sure that your dog is up to date with his vaccinations and that he is on his best behavior! All proceeds are donated to the Spay Neuter Action Project.

2. Station Tavern & Burgers. Located at 2204 Fern Street, Station Tavern & Burgers welcomes both two- and four-legged diners. According to dog owners who have visited the restaurant, the friendly staff will bring a bowl of water to quench your pet’s thirst while you chow down on a juicy burger.

3. Capehart Park. Let your dog off the leash in two large fenced areas in Capehart Park, one of which is reserved for small dogs only. Located at the corner of Soledad Mountain Road and Felspar, Capehart Park provides water for dogs as well as a drinking fountain for their owners. As with all of San Diego’s leash-free areas, owners are expected to clean up after their dogs.

4. North Beach Dog Run. The North Beach Dog Run is a stretch of beach in Coronado where dogs are allowed to roam leash-free. Let your pet splash in the waves, roll in the sand, and enjoy racing around the beach. You are expected to clean up after your dog, which is made easy by the provision of free litter bags and trash cans.

5. Bark For Life. Saturday, July 21, 2012 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m The 2012 San Diego Bark For Life is a dog walking fundraiser that will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2012 to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. The event will last from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. and has an admission fee of $25 for you and your pet. This is a great chance for you and your pooch to get active while supporting a good cause.
