If you live in North County San Diego, you may have already met our groomer Michelle. We’re featuring her in our blog today because several of her new clients took the time recently to write in and tell us what a great job she’s doing. We really appreciate the feedback — that’s worth celebrating!
Detangling an Angry Dog (Poway)
Everybody’s life is so busy these days, that sometimes routine pet care takes a back seat to other things on the family to-do list. That’s understandable, but as a result, it’s not too unusual that when we see a pet for the first time, their coat is in shall we say, less-than-optimal condition. Often a major brushout will get things back on track, but sometimes the coat is so matted that the most humane (and cost effective) thing to do is to give the pet a “smoothie.” Shaving off matted fur is a relief for the pet, but often leaves their human feeling self-conscious about their “naked” pet. Occasionally it is possible to work the mats out rather than shave them off, but this can be tricky business. It is very uncomfortable for the pet, and many pets do not have the temperament to tolerate an extended detangling session. Michelle recently went above and beyond the call of duty to detangle a grumpy doggie in Poway. We were very proud of her, and the dog’s mom was pleased as well. She gave Michelle top ratings, and wrote:
“I found Michelle to be very professional and was quite surprised that she was able to detangle Lynx without having to shave him. He looks great!” — Marlene Z., Poway
Getting the Haircut Just Right – on Every Dog Breed (Rancho Penasquitos)
Considering that there are 161 AKC-recognized dog breeds, you might imagine that dog groomers can face a bit of a challenge when it comes to putting every pup we meet into a breed-appropriate haircut. After all, it’s important that your poodle looks like a poodle, and not like the similar-but-not-the-same-at-all Bedlington terrier (and vice versa.) But Michelle is up to the task. She does a great job on the breeds we see most often like terriers, poodles, spaniels, retrievers, shihtzus and maltese, and also on the rarer breeds as well. Recently, she got called to groom a rare type of large terrier in Rancho Penasquitos. Here’s what the dog’s owner wrote to tell us:
“Reilly is a Kerry Blue and Michelle went out of her way to make sure that he was cut correctly!!” — Chris O., Rancho Penasquitos
Michelle recently got another “love note” from a happy pet owner in Rancho Penasquitos — you can check that out here.
If you live in North County, and would like to give Michelle a try, just contact us with your request. Her regular route extends through parts of Rancho Santa Fe, Rancho Penasquitos, Santa Luz, Scripps Ranch and Poway. Michelle is a horse lover as well as a dog lover, and she has a nice touch with the kitties as well. She’s a tough gal with a soft heart and a gentle touch, and we’re sure you’ll love her as much as we do.
