We all know there’s always plenty to do in San Diego. Beaches, shopping, parks, food, hiking, and a glowing nightlife keep us active and entertained. But, if you’re looking for some fun while spending time with your fur babe, we’ve got you covered. Here are a few events and adventures for you and your pup that we think you’ll love.
2016 Live Well San Diego 5K (July)
If you haven’t visited the Waterfront Park, or if it’s been some time, here’s your chance to enjoy the beautiful grounds with your pup while doing some good. The Live Well San Diego 5K fun run and walk starts and ends at the park and benefits the San Diego Blood Bank. Bring your leashed pup for a jaunt around San Diego Bay and stay for activities after the race. There, participants can pick up a T-shirt commemorating the experience, a gift bag, and a medal for participation. All ages of leased dogs and their humans are welcome. The event is on Saturday, July 30, from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. So, strap on your sneakers and leashes for a feel-good walk or run!
Family Kayak Adventures Dog Paddles (Year Round)
If water activities are what you’re looking for, Family Kayak Adventures can accommodate. They provide two-hour long excursions around San Diego Bay for the whole family, including dogs. They also provide all necessary equipment, including life vests, and no previous kayaking experience is required. This family owned and operated business welcomes people of all ages and skill levels to participate. Visit their website for more information about what they offer.
Wags and Wine (June, July, August)
The Water Conservation Garden, with its garden spaces, exhibits, and even a butterfly pavilion is a fun place to explore and learn. Add to that a special night dedicated to sipping wine and strolling with your pup, and no doubt you’ll have an exceptional evening. This is a great opportunity to check out the gorgeous gardens, perhaps discover a new wine, and mingle with other pet parents. The Water Conservation Garden holds this event one day per month in the summer: June 16, July 21, and August 18 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
30th Annual San Diego Humane Society Fur Ball (August)
Here’s another event that will not only guarantee you a great time with your dog, but also benefit a good cause. The San Diego Humane Society hosts this black tie optional event, running now for 30 years. They promise an evening of fine dining and dancing with raffles and auctions, all in the name of animal welfare. So, put on your fancy pants (and your dog’s, too) and get ready to have a ball. The event is on Saturday August 16, from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Head over to their website for more details and to purchase tickets.
