What makes it so great? This vibrant, multi-cultural area is also super dog friendly! Home to a mix of students, military members, families, and singles, this San Diego suburb has been home to people and their furry ‘kids’ since the late 60’s.
You’ll enjoy fantastic Thai, Vietnamese, and Indonesian food here. Oh, and did we mention the Indian food? Mira Mesa just happens to have some of the best in the area! There are also some noteworthy ethnic markets. Try the clean, modern H-Mart for great Korean food – perfect for fixing a delicious meal at home. They also offer plenty of ready to eat options as well as delicious desserts at the in-store Paris Baguette bakery.
Once your pets are ‘Awesome Doggies’, where do they go and what do they do to show off their sparkling fresh coats? There are so many options in Mira Mesa, you might have a hard time choosing which dog friendly venue to visit first. Why not pick up some food and a great dessert from H-Mart’s and take your best friend to Maddox Park. Enjoy a fun picnic followed by a rousing game of fetch in the fenced 2/3 acre off-leash dog area. Just remember to follow proper dog park etiquette – and don’t get too distracted by that panoramic view of scenic Rattlesnake Canyon!

Our Favorite Places
With its generally beautiful weather, Mira Mesa is a great place to spend time outdoors with your four-legged friend. Don’t limit yourself and your pet to your own backyard, either. It’s important for your curious pet’s mental health to expose him to new people, sites, and smells. Take him along with you whenever you can so he can enjoy that beautiful weather and investigate all of those delicious new smells. Any outing is even better when it involves one of those coveted car rides. And if it’s a convertible? Sheer doggie bliss! Just buckle him in so he doesn’t forget he’s in a moving vehicle when he sees that scampering squirrel.
You can exercise both his mind and his body by taking him on a hike. We recommend Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve for its rich biodiversity and historic significance. It was part of the first Mexican land grant in San Diego County. And if you enjoy an occasional award-winning brew, visit the AleSmith Brewing Company after your hike. It’s dog and family friendly.
Another fun place to hang out is the Mira Mesa Marketplace. Pick up a smoothie and a snack at Jamba Juice and do some people watching together. Watching your dog react to the various characters strolling past is almost more fun than watching them yourself. Just don’t forget to let your dog pick out a favorite yummy treat at Petco first. Oh, and bring a drink for your pet, too. When you and your pup get tired of people watching, head on over to pet-friendly Barnes and Noble to check out the newest dog training books. Not that your dog needs any help, of course![/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_media_grid style=”pagination” items_per_page=”12″ element_width=”3″ grid_id=”vc_gid:1534773894636-e99979cf-5da9-5″ include=”596,597,598,599,600,601,602,603,604,605,607,608,609,610,611,612,613,614,615,616,617″][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]With all of the fun things to see and do in Mira Mesa, you and your dog are sure to stay busy.
